Pioneer Navi installed into a TJ

Installing a 2 Din head unit in a 1.5 Din dashboard

How about we install a Pioneer AVIC-F900bt into the TJ. Problem is, the 97-06 TJ's have a 1.5 din...that means the 2 din Pioneer will be too tall to fit in the dash.

I decided to take the jeep apart last week because I was having problems with my tires hitting on inside of the fender wells while turned sharp right or left. (seen in pic). I never used to have this problem until I put on the Poison Spyder fenders. After further deconstruction of all the parts in the front end I ran into a problem. The "pinion angle" adjustment bolt for passenger side was extremely tight. I thought ok time for breaker bar. Wrong the 9/16th bolt broke right in half. Come to find out these little bad boys are $35 dollars for 1!!!!!. Yes 1!!!!. I was pretty pissed. Strike 1. The LCA was still stuck on the axle so then I had to cut it off. Cut off the bolt and tried to push out the old bushing and sleeve. With the shape of the sleep inside the bushing I couldnt get it out white there was a bolt stuck in it. Strike 2. Cut out the old bushing, tried to order a new LCA bushing from 3 local distributors, sold old. Apparently there was a large recall on RE bushings. Strike 3.

I finally got the bushing in the mail. Time to start lengthening my lower control arms. Driver side.. no problem, knocked loose the jam nut un screwed the johnny joint, tightened the jam nut BAMM. Driver side, I made two turns to unscrew it and all of a sudden it stopped turning. Tried heat, literally an 8 foot pry bar and heat and two people, stilll no go.... I wish I had a picture of this site it was pretty priceless. The arm luckily was close where I needed it so I equaled out the drivers side to the same length. I love when projects you think will be easy and last a day but turn into a 2 week headache. ughhhhhh.

I am getting used to things never being easy now

I forgot to mention with all that work and cutting to get the passenger side lower control arm off, the bracket on the axle started to tear off!!!. Took it down to a buddys shop downtown Cincinnati and we were able to reweld both brackets. Thanks Aarron!!! Its scary the minimal welding from the factory. In fact it seems pretty unsafe after reading about people brackets tearing off while going down the road!!!

ya man...like bending tin!....When Beth clipped that guys car in NYC last year, my passenger side axle tab got tweaked pretty bad. The guys at OK4WD ordered a new one and welded it on for me. The new one is twice as thick as the driver side now!
